How the Media Frames the Debate I
Notice here how CNN:
1. Uses a rather unattractive and insecure reporter. (When do you see reporters like this on CNN otherwise?)
2. Mentions/plans for (plants?) people who shout in the background.
3. Talks about unrelated topics (Joe Wilson instead of the real issues: socialism and health care).
So, the whole feeling I get from the thing is one of rather insecurity and fear of this “mob”…which is intended, instead of encouraging watchers to consider the issues rationally.
So, the entire “frame” is of a bunch of idiots with signs that say crazy things like “independence” on them rather than any to-be-taken-seriously cross-section of the American people.
